    engine miss at idle

New to BMW's so I figured I would ask before I start ripping into it. Picked up a 89 325ix about a month ago and it had a miss at idle and sputtered sometimes during acceleration. I took it to a local BMW and had them look into it and they stated that there were two different types of plugs in there and one of the plug wires was laying on the exhaust manifold and arcing. They fixed the wire laying on the mani and I ordered 6 new plugs from BMW. I just put them in tonight and it didnt fix the problem. Engine still has a miss at idle and sputters during accel but goes away once your cruising along.

Any known issues I should be aware of? Or is it just another one of those things were I have to start playin around with things?

Intake leaks, aged ignition wires/distributor, aged O2 sensor, misadjusted valves, or fuel injector problems come readily to mind. A smoke test will reveal any intake leaks, the ignition wires & distributor should be replaced with new parts as should the O2 sensor, and the valves adjusted. If the problem persists have the injectors rebuilt & flow tested.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

What plugs did you use? The best choice would be NGK ZGR5A
