    grease question

just recently bought a 89 325i, and today while i was cleaning the engine bay i noticed a shit ton of grease just caked on the driver side of the engine underneath the air box, and the exterior steering pump (i assume thats what is underneath the air box) it was caked on there ridicously. any ideas of where this could have came from? the PO i assume didnt bother much with the engine bay because it look like its has never seen some simple green and a rag. So i am not sure how long this grease has been sitting there.

Thats what oil leaks do...nothing out of the ordinary on a 23 year old engine.

Purple power works wonders on it. Just get it warm, spray with purple power, and hose it all down. It's super easy and about a gallon later you'll be able to eat off your oil pan.
