    Rough idle and rich smell

Ok so here is the deal.... i am a tech at a stealership so i have a great understanding of how all this works. But here is the catch haha. I was in a motorcycle accident half way through the repair work on the 325is and well... now it has a rough idle and misfire.

What i did... installed new intake manifold gaskets.

I am currently still hurt, so instead of crawling around finding out what i forgot to reinstall after the crash haha i would ask first to see if i could cut to the chase.

Now i did initiallly forget to plug in the air volume meter but got that taken care of and cleared the code. But it still does the same thing even after resetting the computer.

Start it up and it does not want to idle do to a apparent misfire and smells as if it is running really rich. Thoughts would be appreciated. I am just not 100% on all the tricks to these cars yet.

    thanks.

Sight unseen, I'd guess that intake leaks are the first suspect. Smoke test the engine.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

That is exacly what i was hoping you would say... went to the dealership and dug though the wiring diagrams and found old e30 books. (i also have wiring issues that i found that could cause this as well) and grabbed the smoke machine. I will test soon and see what i come up with. Thanks for the input man.

Just to update... I found my problem. The car has always had a misfire around idle. But it was the typical not enough to bother me kinda thing. Well as it got colder it got worse. This is why i was replacing the gasket. Well, come to find out after a smoke test that the manifold itself is cracked.... so off to the fs section i go.
