so the two CPS wire can be replaced with any wire of the same gauge? would the sheilding need to be replaced or put back just so?

Replacement wires for the CPS signal must be coax
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

You have a part number for the harness that has supposedly gone NLA?

Anyone know what gauge wires are used in the CPS circuit? Is it 20 22 or 24 awg?

How did the CPS coax repair go?

havn't done it yet... prob not going to

several other connecters are degraded, and the insulation on a few more are very degraded. I really need to replace the harness with a new OE one.

but they are very hard to find, even via BMW

It will probably have to come from Germany and will take a couple of weeks, but your dealer should have no problem getting the harness. Order 12511719606 and 12511724422

                      Yep.

When you get the harness it will seem too pretty to install. Before installing a harness I label each connector. Easy to do with the harness on the bench and pays off later.

OK, I found two different harnesses available via BMW:

                        09/1987 to 05/1988 12511719528
                        05/1988 to 09/198812511724070
my car is an 11/1988, but the harness for it is discontinued

does anyone know what the differences in these are?
