screwed up - what do i replace?

did my first head gasket and f'd it up.

installed new bolts without washers. forgot to install the side water port.

i'm assuming i need a new gasket and bolts. tell me I don't have to skim the head again...just had it all taken care of...

How long did you run the engine? Gotta bite the bullet and order a new headgasket from BMA ( $30 ) and ne head bolts ( $26 ) from bma or get the metric blue from mcmasters ( $45) and redo it. No biggy.

never ran the engine. got the head on, saw the stupid little output pipe sitting next to my tools on the table, and realized, ah shit!

What does the water port have to do with it? Unless it's the one on the rear I don't see an issue.

As far as the bolts, take out the old and drop in the new. If you want to be really careful, do it one at a time. No big deal, just don't lift the head. Also, you wouldn't need to cut the head again.

While it is a bit tight and awkward, you can install the heater hose fitting on the rear of the head w/o removing the head. More room to work can be had by lowering the subframe and inch or two.

As stated above, if you replace the head bolts one at a time the head gasket won't be affected.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
