Really mad need help diagnosing valve issues SAD CONCLUSION SUPPORT NEEDED

So I heard a clack coming from my valve train when I would get to 2500rpm so I went ahead and adjusted the valves when I was checking clearances I put a 0.025mm feeler gauge in and it didn't fit , all the valves were really tight , my trusted 60 year old friend told me to gap them at 4 thousandths and i did well I went ahead and gapped them at 0.025mm and it just got worse here's a video of what it sounds like I'm really angry

Imbed fail? Valve clearance should be 10 thousandths cold.

Lash should be .010 in or .25mm (not .025 mm)

Since the video was shot from above the engine, I can't be positive. But I hear what sounds like a rod bearing.

just a heads up, these older e30's are getting older everyday, Ive own about 6 of them, they all have rocker noise, i use to deliver pizza and i cant count how many people would here my car in the back round and be like, hey man i think you got a knock, lol, you should only gap your rockers to the clearance from factory if you go to low, you will miss, if you go high you will break the rocker, then you will truly have fun:)

also make sure the oil rail the goes above the rocker is distributing the oil and is properly lubricating the guts in the head,

i just let my friend listen to the video, hes a huge e30 guy as well, he agrees with me but also said check this

sounds like a rocker is gauged correctly and check all the lobs on the cam,

if i where you i would take the valve cover off and start the car, use towels to cober everything up that you dont wan to have a little oil dripped on

These high mileage motors end up with a little dish worn into the top of the valve stem thus making a feeler gauge highly inaccurate.

Well, I can hear a consistent click from the valves that varies with engine speed, but I also hear a deeper less consistent sound that sounds to me like a rod knock. That the car to BMW shop and get a professional opinion.

If it is a rod knock, the car is red X'd until repaired. A worn rod bearing can seize with no warning and destroy the engine.

^ had a similar noise it seemed was from top end and many thought was but remained after the head was rebuilt. my top is still somewhat noisy but the clank going in and out wasnt resolved till the block got swapped, and now the replacement seems to b headed in the same direction. it really makes me want a rebuild bottom end since all the ones that can be found are gonna have a lot of age and probably wear.

Could it be possible that I adjusted the rockers too tight to begin with and end up burning one of the valves

as much as i hate to say this . i found out what the problem was today , note: clack was coming from intake rocker 5 , so i removed the coil wire and the valve cover and crank it to move the camshaft to inspect for any broken springs or wear on the rockers , turns out cylinder number 5 oil line squirter was clogged so i ran some compressed air through it and sludge came out , i then when ahead and completley flushed the oil system , oil line , oil cooler ect.
i still had my original break in oil in the motor which caused the oil tube on top of the head to clog , i kept putting my oil change off to the side due to lack of money and miles on the motor theirs 750 miles on the motor , well i filled up the motor with a mahle new filter and some VR1 valvoline straight 30 weight , turned the car over and clack clack (dry) and then tick tick back to normal was purring sounded really good the valves were not to loud or anything went to drive it soon as i hit 2500 rpm clack clack clack from that same valve . if i take it up to 40mph and down shift to second letting the rpms get up 4000 rpm and then letting them trail down as i slow down theres no clacking for some reason other than that , my next step is to do compression test to see if the valves seating (which i highly doubt its going to) i think the damage is done and im going to have to pull the head and have the valve seat reground and a new valve put it
im a 90's child the exact year is disclosed , ive put over a years worth of my time effort and all of my money when i say all i meen ALL i would put off buying new cloths to have money to fix my car i put , blood ,sweat and tears, to finally get a car running that i never saw run to run perfectly, i put happiness aside and my social life for so LONG to get it built. my car only lasted 750 miles an my car went to shit, in my book im a failure

A clogged oil line in the spray bar won't make that sound. You might hear a squeak from the dry journal, but not a knock.

Have a pro diagnose the noise.

Better to be a failure doing what you love, than being good at something you hate. Every failure is also a success. Just in how you think about it. ;)

You have to fail before you can succeed. That is life.
