So I just picked up my first BMW, an '87 325is. It's in really nice shape, but it has pretty loud injector tick. I was thinking of buying new injectors to deal with this and I read that it is one of the best ways to get more power out of an E30. From what I've read it seems that the Bosch 19# 4 pintle injectors are the way to go, but I wanted to know if there are better options out there, and if there are any other things I should do at the same time as switching the injectors. I've read that the miller maf kit is really good but I don't really have the money for it right now. So, any tips?

Even if you get 19lb injectors the ECU will just will just cut down the amount of fuel. Without a tune of some kind they dont do much. If you do get a tune to let the injectors work well, you then need to make sure you can actually burn all that fuel.
Adjust valves. Tip: JP at A1 Auto here in San Rafael suggests using a 0.012in feeler gauge with a cold engine. Works well on my car. Give it a try.sigpic

I did the valve adjustment soon after buying, didn't change the sound. The engine was slightly warm though, so I guess I could try after cooling overnight. I changed the oil + filter as well, and the air and fuel filters. I ran some injector cleaner too but that did nothing. I used a mechanics stethoscope and the loudest part of the engine was the injectors, although a small tick could be heard when the stethoscope was placed on the valve cover. Car has just over 230,000 KM on it.
