1989 325I bottom end knock options

Other than a motor swap what are my options for a cheap replacement for my bottom end? Can I use a 2.7 eta bottom end for a low compression motor to turbo this summer?

There are plenty of options with the M20.

You could just rebuild the 2.5, you could swap in a 2.7, or you could build a stroker and do a 2.8, 2.9, 3.0, 3.1, etc.
