Hey,ive researched this, and i think i pretty much know, but isn't swapping the 153 ecu with the 173 ecu a direct plug and play? thanks.

Probably my imagination, but my mpg seemed to decrease after I swapped from 153 to 173. Sold the 153, so now I can't swap back to test it. Do like having the stomp test available tho.

173 is the latest motronic. Adaptive. Most chips are made for the 173 too

It should have a better power curve too wouldnt it? Maybe a little more power?

Assuming both are operating properly, there will be no difference in performance. The advantages of a 173 over a 153 DME are better idle control, the stomp test, and easier access to performance chips.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

                          One last question.

Will a 525 ecu be a direct plug in for my car as well?
