First started making the noise on downshifts to first, now it's almost always there unless I'm at higher RPM. Not sure what would cause this.

belt. I would start by adjusting it to make sure it is and then picking up a new one.

Alternator belt.

Yep, you're both right. Alternator belt was loose.
