Valves or injectors ticking?

I just swapped my old leaky 14# injectors for some flow matched e36
injectors. at the same time i replaced my valve cover gasket.

before the swap I had a very faint ticking that was almost certainly just the
injectors, after the swap the ticking is a little over twice as loud
(can't hear it without the hood open) so would it just be that the new injectors are that
much louder or could i have done something that made the valves tick?

should i check to see what my valves are currently adjusted to and make a
decision based on that?

I would suggest going ahead and checking your valves and adjusting accordingly. You can also narrow down the location of the sound using a stethoscope.
