    quick question

when setting top dead center are all the intake valves supposed to be all closed?
i been trying to set top dead center by aligning it to the marks on the block and head but the middle intake valve is down and i can see the piston but the rest are closed. i remember the intake valves all closed and lined up with the mark on the head and block before i rotated the motor manually. should i just go by what the lines on the head and block say?

When the marks on the cam and crank are aligned, number 1 cylinder will be at TDC and both of it's valves will closed. Valves on some other cylinders will be open or partially open.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
