    Short skirt pistons?

I have an M20 block, and I was asked if these were short skirt pistons.....can anyone give me an idea so I don't have to pull the whole thing apart just to find out they aren't.

    It's a 1988 325is m20b25

    Thanks,
    sigpic

People say that but I have still seen more than one late model engine with long skirt pistons.

I don't think their use was consistent.

The weight improved pistons (short skirt) were introduced in 06/88. I suppose there may be some engines from slightly later that were assembled with left over stock.

I think they list the 6/88 as a replacement date and not when they were used, from my research they appeared to be used on late models starting around 91

Well, the engine that I pulled from the 07/88 car that is now my Spec E30 had the newer pistons in it.
