    Solved

Is the intermediate shaft position important when timing the e30? Both other cranks don't move, but the intermediate shaft moves freely. Is its position relative to the crank and camshaft important at all?

    Thanks all,
    Nick

The position of the intermediate shaft doesn't matter on an M20B25 or M20B27 because they use a camshaft mounted distributor.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
