Bmw 325is 2.7 Stroker

hey guys well did a little research and all got a few questions finally found a car not bad condition needs some TLC , it has a fully built stroker done in b.c by some shop as i dont know what shops yet it has apperently 8000 grand put into the body and engine its self ill be getting the paper work as soon as i pick up the car and find out whats been done , but theres one problem that i need to resolve the cars overheating but the original owner didnt have this problem before so im stuck on it being a water pump or thermostat problem , ill be replaceing both i wanted to get input on it , and how to flush the whole system and basically clean it out maybe its clogged etc , also wanted to know if the gauage might be faulty is what i heard happens sometimes , and wanted to know if the heater core would have any impact on the cooling system overheating thanks!

The heater core should not affect the engine's temperature if it is connected.

The gauge could be wrong and a check of head temperature with a contact o IR thermometer will tell if that is the case.

I rather doubt that the water pump is the cause, but everything else in the cooling system is suspect. The expected life of the cooling system is 10y/100k. At which point the everything (radiator, expansion tank, cap, water pump, thermostat, fan clutch, and all hoses) should be replaced. If you don't have proof of recent replacement, replace everything.

the engine was rebuilt stroker idk if its a 2.7 or the guy said a 2.5 with 2.7 crank or what ever, it was all done in b/c getting documents when i pruchase the car probably getting it friday and ill see whats up but the car idles and you see the temp go up so , im thinking its thermostat etc the guy that had it was no handy... man and couldnt even change his oil so had people do it.. soo im thinking i got more to change then just belts hoses etc but worth it ,
