found a pic im guessing theres a lobe for each rocker but on the pic the 2 lobes beside each other are facing the same way so shouldnt you be able to adjust both rockers since the lobes are both facing down? -
so when you have the lobe positioned down to do the first valve cant you go straight across to do that one since its on the same lobe?or is there different lobes for each individual rocker?Last edited by e30construction; 03-06-2013, 09:48 PM.Leave a comment:

if your looking down on it you have the springs, and the rocker arm touches them. The back side of the rocker arm is above the lobes. Using a 22mm wrench on the crank bolt with the car in neutral you start at cylinder 1(closestto fan) and find TDC. TDC is when the lobes( exhaust and intake) point downard. They dont have to be EXACTLY downward, just facing that way to relieve pressure off the springs. Loosen the 10mm bolt on the rocker arm/eccentric and using a small alen key or wire move the eccentric while having your feeler gauge between the rocker and spring and from then you can get the point.
DOUBLE AND TRIPLE CHECK.Leave a comment:

The lobe under the rocker your adjusting. And you have to move the crank for each valve/rocker your setting.Leave a comment:

so when doing this the lobe thats beside each rocker is the one that needs to be facing down? and do you leaves it down to change the exhaust and intake valveLast edited by e30construction; 03-06-2013, 09:24 PM.Leave a comment:

You can put the car in gear and push it (the higher the gear, the less movement required to turn the motor), but it's a simpler process to use a wrench. The bolt is on the front of the motor near the bottom, maybe 3/4 of the way down. And it's true that loose is better than tight, but aim for the feeler gauge to move in and out with a little bit of resistance. You don't want it to slide in and out easily, nor do you want to have to shove it in and out.
It's a cinch once you get the hang of it!Leave a comment:

Be slow and thorough and you will find it's easy and simple. Rushing will only end up making you do it twice.Leave a comment:

can you turn the crank by hand or by rolling the car? and where is the bolt to turn it by a wrench? and so im gonna be adjusting 12 altogether?Leave a comment:

Yes, between the adjustment cam and valve top. I suggest a scratch pad with the numbers 1 through 6, intake and exhaust and mark each valve as you make progress. Turn the crank with a 22mm wrench and work your way through it. Then go back and check each one again. Loose is better than tight when sliding the feeler gauge.
Just remember that this is supposed to be fun.Leave a comment:
