    m20 w/a dizzy and a Carb ID?? (long-sorry)

    Hello,

trying to ID what M20 I am running.

Motor is not native to the car it is in.

Casting on Cylinder Head reads: 1 264 200 plus a smaller
number "85" inside a circle towards the front of the head on
    the intake side.

Casting on Block below distributor reads: 00105850

Apparently somewhere else is stamped "2.7", this from a friend
looking at car who is more bendy than I am at my age.

So, I have an M20 with a points distributor, and a carb manifold
atop which the prior owner put a Holley 390 4 Barrel Carb.

Motor seems max out at 4200, maybe 4500 on the freeway.
Has lots of torque, just seems to have limited redline.

Am hoping I can eventually upgrade this to fuel injection, elect
ignition, or at the very least figure out what its out of so I can get
a Pertronix ant not have to worry about points.

    Any help/info would be appreciated,

    Thanks,

    Rick

"200" at the end of the head stamp means it has a ETA head with single valve springs. Since you said it redlines at 4500 and has 2.7 stamped elsewhere pretty much confirms is a m20b27, which is also know as an ETA.

Post a pic of your distributor with the cap and rotor off. I have never seen an M20 distributor with points in it. The intake and possibly the dist you have are probably from a 320/6 E21 chassis and i would agree with XW70 that they are on a 2.7 long engine.

      Oh, and welcome to r3v.

+1 on not having points also. Plus a Holley won't fit on the factory intake without so kind of adapter. Very interested in pictures!
