M20 wont start. Please help im sorta new to e30's

So ive had my e30 since october. When i bought the car it ran great turned on every day no problem. Come Jan the car starts to give me problems. It wouldn't start. Brought it to a local shop and they change the starter and it was fine. I drove the car for 2 weeks and one day pulling up to a red light it shut of on me and would not start again. The car has been sitting for about a month now . However she will crank but will only start with starting fluid. After she fires up she dies out in about 5-10 seconds.

    Its a 88 325is btw.

    Things ive done since.

    New Battery.
    New NGK sppark plugs
    New Fuel Pump and Filter
    New CPS
    All relays
    Fuses are good.
Ive checked for vacuum leaks can find none.
Im getting spark and if remove the fuel return line gas comes out.
Im pulling my hair out lol. ive drove the car like 2k miles since i got it SMH..
Please help im willing to pay for someone in the area to check her out for me a littler better than i can. Im in CT

Tomorrow i will be replacing the ecu to see if that makes a difference.

Except in obvious cases, you won't find intake leaks by a visual inspection or spraying carb cleaner around. Only a smoke test will work. Along with that you must tee in a pressure gauge and prove that rail fuel pressure is correct and use a noid light to prove that the injectors are firing.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

check electrical plugs and fuses. also be positve tha the dip stick and oul cap are on tight. I had to learn that the hard way.

Put a timing belt on your list as soon at you get it started.

sounds like a fuel problem to me and as jlevie said your gonna need a noid light and pressure tester to know for sure whats up. unless you wanna pull the rail up and send atomized fuel everywhere to test it lol
