    Cam Questions

    My question is pretty simple when i was deployed my G mom found a 325 i Conv the car really is clean but the prior owner installed a schrick 272 cam and left everything stock besides a alex back exhaust. The car doesnt have a chip nothing. so i was wondering what would help getting the most out of this cam. I ordered Megasqurt 2 a couple days ago so im going to delete the MAF but what injectors would u guys recomended for doing a nice street set up im not looking for anything crazy i all ready know turbo or motor swap its more of just my toy so please let me know also HEADERS ? are they worth it? also im ordering the larger throttle body from raw performance

      Driving it to be honest its my 3rd E30 it sits in the garage unless its nice out side. so its not daily driven. For right now i just want alittle more power. Took me close to a month to talk my self into the megasqurt but after pricing out chips Vs megasqurt i decided on it. plus the Dyno video they posted sells its self. the motor was rebuilt 5k ago and the body has 107k on it and was garage kept. things ive all ready done. full brake upgrade drilled rotors new pads. bilistien shocks with H&R springs larger sway bars stainless steel brake lines and that was it. im going to get rid of the H&R springs not low enough for me.

        well, you are starting in the wrong place
        do all maintenance
        upgrade the suspension
        Megasquirt - isnt for DD cars, just get a good chip and 17lb injectors
        ebay long tube headers after that

        other things to do first. make sure u have an LSD, check drive train components.
        put all new bushings and control arms in.
        if your car is an 87, upgrade to late model cooling and engine management

          Sorry my Car is a 92. ive all ready gone threw the whole car everything is perfect haha no rust no worn out bushings leaks alttle pw steering but im gonna pull that along with the ac no need if its hot ill just drop the top. and EBAY headers?

            ok maybe i wasnt to clear. sorry for that but im just looking for some info on how to get the most out of my cam and my motor with out having to go and buy a stroker kit or turbo it. and please im not swaping it and if i was going to i would just say fuck it and go LS1 .

              Sounds like your on the right track, sense it has an upgraded cam you should upgrade the air inlet and outlet (intake, exhaust). Also Cabriolet told you the way to go now, 17lb injectors and headers would be nice. Although people often get sucked into the "omg I need full length headers" saga. If your engine isn't highly modified with ported and polished heads, big cam and ported intake, your not going to see a big gain with headers. At the most maybe 5hp or so, the factory exhaust manifolds on these cars are very well engineered. I would spend my money on a chip, exhaust, and intake. But I would get my suspension dialed in first, H&R springs, good shocks etc.....

                What a naive comment, and why do you think this?

                There are many of us that daily on Megasquirt, it can be tuned to run at least as well as a stock Motronic or with a chip or better as it can be tuned for all your modifications and not preset combinations and you won't have to keep buying chips as you mod, cause you know you always will keep modding. 8^)

                  Heck he already said he ordered it too, lol. Seems it would be worth it to tune when you want and to do away with the MAF. Heck you can tune for MPG with a MS can't you?
