Bleeder on T-stat problem

So Im trying to bleed the system because my temp needle hickups, and when it does, so does my idle. It doesnt overheat though.

I leave the expansion tank cap open and fill it, then run the car until its warmed up, and i remove the bleeder screw but nothing comes out. no air, no coolant. i took a peek from above and it looks completely closed like nothing is supposed to come out of there.

is this normal?

Use a thin gauged stiff wire to clear out the bleed hole. You'll get loads of stuff flying outta there.
