I'm getting ready to yank my m20 and trans together and I just recently heard of removing the motor with the subframe I was wondering how plausible this is without using a car lift? I'm looking for the quickest route, and I'll be doing this in my garage with a jack and jack stands.

If you have a lift, it is pretty easy to drop the engine/transmission/subframe out the bottom. But you won't be able to do that without a lift. With the car on jack stands, an engine hoist and load leveler makes it pretty easy to pull the engine & transmission as a unit. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Oh...there are homemade setups, but I am not sure if you want to follow them. There is one guy who lifts the entire front end up to the ceiling and pull the engine out from underneath.Comment
