Does anybody know the actual name of the manufacture who makes the aftermarket m20 2.5 cylinder head that has no (885 or BMW logo cast) on it but says (made in w.germany) casted in head? I have heard its a MANN or early AMC head. I have heard it could be a early tuner head and it has a v.i.n. stamped on it and a 5 digit number stamped on the front of the head that also matches a 5 digit number stamped on the front of the cam as well. Any thoughts or input would be great.

I have a brand new AMC, an old oem 731 and also a "made in west germany" head all sitting on my workbench at the moment, The west german one is not AMC it is identicle in every way to the oem 731. It came off an e30 320 and looks like its done about as many k's as the rest of the car so i think its probably just made in a different factory with the same tooling from BMW or something.
The AMC is VERY different everywhere you look not necessarily in a good or bad way but its just obviously made by a completely different company. Ports are poor but it has lots of meat for porting.sigpic

What are the pro's or con's on this head vs a factory 885 head ? I just sent it out for a valve job and installing a new billet 272 cam with HD rockers.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
