    rough idle question

So I have a 89 325i and as of yesterday the idle was going crazy to the point where the car would turn off. I tried turning it on today again and the same thjng is happening but it doesnt last more than a couple seconds on. It sounds like a vacuum leak but the other idea I have is my fuel pump giving out. Any ideas will be appreciated.

I'm trying to post a video but for some reason it won't let me.

If it sounds like a vacuum leak, chances are it is.

Explain going crazy. Is it high, low, revving randomly? Does it die with gas given to it?

Easiest way to test the fuel pressure is splice a fuel pressure gauge in and see how it reads when it's about to die. If any faults in pressure, inspect all lines for leaks/cracks/kinks and check fpr for losses in pressure. Much better to catch one of those faults before throwing in a pump and turning out that's not the reason for lack of pressure

So when I turn on the car it starts off pretty good and a couple seconds later it starts reving randomly. When the rpm needle comes down it sometimes goes to the 500rpm and a little above it and sometimes a littlw below until it turns off. At times the engine stays on for a little while but the random reving continues. When I open the throttle it sounds like its struggling to accelerate.
