    Idle fluctuation and throttle lag

    Hey revers,
I have a 89 325i that likes to mess with me. For the first time my idle would go up and down from 800 to 1200. I am also getting a lot I throttle lag especially when I start to remove my foot off the clutch. The throttle lag gets so bad that when I start to release the clutch and press on the gas, my tac goes slightly up and then significantly down ( to like 200) to the point where my check engine light turns on because of how close I am to stalling. On the freeway my check engine light in rare occasions turns on for a brief moment. I'm fairly sure it's the idle control valve and a possible vacuum leak but wanted to see the input of an e30 expert.

Most likely caused by vacuum leaks, only good way to check is have a shop run a smoke test

      Yep!
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
