Spark plug wire inductive pick up what? where does it go!

    Spark plug wire inductive pick up what? where does it go!

    So where does it go? Searched around never really found an answer I've traced it up till where it goes into a "loom" type thing with a bunch of other wires. My guess is its connected to the circle thing next to the dip stick where you reset your oil service indicator don't remember the name of it. Attached image shows what wire I'm talking about.

    Underneath the diagnostic connector are two connectors. One for the crank position sensor and one for the inductive pickup.

        The one closest to the dip stick with the wire bail clip on it or the other one? I disconnected the one with the wire bail on it and it resulted in a " no start" it would just crank I'm guessing that's the CPS?

          Nevermind guys I got it just slightly pulled on the other wire and traced it back thanks for the help!

            Bumping an old thread.

            Can anyone explain how the wire is routed? As the original poster says, it goes into a bit loom of wires, and I can't figure out how to remove this wire and then reinstall a new one.

              to replace this you need to replace the spark plug wires. #6 wire should have a new inductive pickup attached.

                Routing is through a protective wire cover clipped to the front of the upper timing cover part 15 here:

                You'll probably need a couple of the plastic clips (part 14), these fit into the front of the timing cover and will probably snap when you try to lift the cover out.

                  It's actually not going through that plastic cover, it's currently routed above the distributor. I just did the timing belt, so it's possible that I forgot to route it through. Anyway, it's the length from there to the connector that I'm struggling with. It doesn't seem to take a direct path, and appears to get bundled with a bunch of other cables in one of the big shrink-wrapped bundles. Is this not the case with most cars?
