    M20 rocker shaft question

Hey all I plan on rebuilding my m20 over the winter... doing a stroker kit and boosting it. I have just a random question... I see that Ireland engineering has replacement rocker shafts but are there such things as the dubbed "performance" rocker shafts? will the stock ones hold any kind of decent power? im not talking about the rocker arms... just the shafts.. I read a thread about a guy who had a 900+ hp m20 but it didn't really talk much about valve train or any of the sorts. any and all insight is appreciated. Thanks!!

stock rockers shafts are fine, they don't see a ton of stress.

I've never seen a rocker shaft break from power. Honestly 99% of the time they don't even need to be replaced with new when rebuilding a cylinder head. They really don't wear.

They only need to be replaced if the last person who rebuilt the head used a 3# sledge to install them. Ask me how I know...

I picked up a motor at the pick n pull because it had a new head and new exhaust gaskets. This said to me "recent head" so I was all giddy. I installed it in the car, started her up, took it for a test drive. I got it all warmed up and decided to r3v it up a bit. Goosed the gas and immediately broke a rocker. When I went to remove the rocker shaft, it wouldn't budge. I then noticed the end of it on the cam gear side looked like a mushroom from being "coerced" into place by the PO with the sledge. I had to cut it (w/a saws-all) into 8 pieces to get it out. After that I noticed it only had single valve springs instead of double. PO was a damn genius. Force + ignorance...
