    Issue starting

So it takes a good 5-9 seconds of cranking to start after sitting for more than 4 hours.

To get it to start I have the accelerator pedal down while cranking.

Less than 4 hours it starts up fine.

    Thoughts?

I have had this happened to me when I first got the car. JB weld the elbows going into the throttle body took care of the problem.

The two most likely causes are the fuel system and intake leaks.

The check valve in the pump may have failed, allowing rail pressure to go to zero. If the pump is worn it will take a number of turn of the engine to bring the pressure up. A pressure gauge tee'd into the rail supply line will tell if that is happening. The other possibility is leaking injectors that are slowly flooding the engine while the car is parked. To test for that you have to pull the rail & injectors, pressurize the rail, and watch for drips.

A smoke test will tell if there are intake leaks and where they are. Note that if a significant leak is found, that will have to be repaired and the smoke test repeated until a smoke pressure of 2-4psi can the be held for at least 5 minutes.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

It is most likely the pump, seeing as it had a hole in the tank and was exposed to the outside. just wanted to see what other ideas people had. Thank you
