    replace headgasket or swap motors!

Ok i bought a 1990 325i and the head gasket went out on my. the motor is just old in general and PO didn't do the best job keeping up with it but she would still run good until the head gasket went out. But i also have a brand new motor and new 5 speed tranny and stage 2 clutch waiting to go in. so would it just be the better idea to replace the whole motor and tranny now instead of fixing this head gasket and then doing swap later on. again never done a motor swap im pretty sure i could do it my self but just not 100% sure so that's why im questioning the motor swap is for money reasons!

id just put the new swap in. Its not hard, and doesnt take much money if you have all the parts.

Put swap in then change the head gasket/freshen up the seals on other motor and sell it.

What motor are you putting in? Another m20 or moving onto an mx or some other non-original motor? If it's just an m20 its just the reverse of everything you pull out from the dead motor. Take lots of pictures and label bags of parts so you don't lose anything. Can be done over a weekend of you sit down and put yourself to work.
