    Dowels for timing cover

    So middle of putting the m20 back togther and the damn timing cover doesn't seem to fit right. There are two dowels for the timing cover, which only one can be seen in this photo:



    The smaller one in this picture (below the cam gear) goes in fine, the bigger one above the cam gear (missing in this picture) when installed won't allow me to tighten the cover down flush. Any ideas? Almost seems like its too deep.

    (oh and thats not my engine)

    Replace that timing belt. dont pull it apart and not replace the belt.

    now onto the the help. You need to make sure the engine hoist point is installed behind the cover. If its not, it wont allow the cover to be tightly bolted down. Make sure the hoist bracket is there and report back.

      You sir, made me realize my error, I didnt even consider that bracket (engine hoist point), im going to finish it up now, ill report back later. In the meantime:
