    M20B25 Weird Sound: Need Help!

    Hi,

I noticed that my engine sounded a bit different after leaving it over the weekend parked. It was raining the whole weekend so the car was just parked streetside under the rain. At first, I thought that it sounded like a worn bearing but upon listening to it closely, I noticed that the sound is coming from inside the engine and is at the rear part near cylinders 5 & 6. I haven't opened the valve cover yet, but would want to know if anyone has experienced the same thing.

Its not the normal M20 "tick."

    Thanks r3v.

I am having a similar issue, does it go away when you depress the clutch?

Its an automatic, sorry. It does sound more like a loud hissing sound. I haven't checked for exhaust leaks though, but I will in the next few days.

You were right. Now, the clutch is slipping. Lost reverse and drive gears. Crazy! What could it be?

          Release bearing?

Checked the ATF level and it went below the low mark. Fluid was still red though so no burning occurred. Thank God. I hope that it runs normally after topping it up.
