So I have had a few 325i (87, 89, 90), and I've done a few water pump replacements, but in my memory, all of them have had a water pump with one tube going out (for one coolant hose). I recently acquired an engine from a wrecked 325i vert (not sure of model year), and it had a water pump with two outputs. ... whats the deal? which models had this and why?
I just did a timing belt and water pump change on the newly acquired engine, and I actually didn't notice the difference until after I put on a new water pump (I put on one with only one tube out instead of 2)... probably too much beer while playing with my tools!
Can I switch the water pump from the two out version to the one out? If so what else needs to be changed/modified?
My plan is to drop this into an 89 325i (formerly auto) if that matters.
Cheers!
