    Failed charging system?!?

So today I drove my 325e for the first time in the rain, i have driven the car many times since i finished it (with a brand new battery) in the dry with no problems. But today it rained quite heavily, drove the car to a friends, then when i went to go home the car sounded like it was a little hard to crank but it started and i drove it back. Although i did notice it kinda hickup once. Parked it and then went to drive it again probably and hour later and the car had some juice but not nearly enough to start. jumped it and stated to drive but by the time i went 200ft the lights were dimmed to the point that they where almost off and the car would barely run (not enough juice to run the fuel pump). Eventually it died completely, i know it has something to do with the alternator/charging system but i dont know what! I checked to make sure the battery light wasnt blown which its not, everything looks fine nothing out of the ordinary! I dont know if the rain could have shorted anything or couldve ruined the voltage regulator? Im gonna try jumping it again tomorrow when its dried out. So pleaseeeeeee any ideas or better yet answers would be appreciated!

    Thanks, GK

Ok i pulled my voltage regulator today and it has very uneven wear on the brushes, the outer brush is a good amount lower than the inner one. so im hoping that this is the problem, the brush isnt making good contact anymore. So ill change that and see how it goes

What's the cars voltage when running? Don't forget to check the charging cable at the starter we just had one of those fail on a car here so even though the alternator was charging it wasn't making it to the terminal on the starter
