    m20 start issue

Was told it was the idle control valve just being sticky (especially in colder weather.) But when I start the car after sitting all night it usually starts fine. But even after driving a few miles turning car off doing some errands and then turning back on it will take a while to kick on. It will take 20 seconds of turning the key and letting it die and repeating. It's an auto btw. Any info on this would be helpful. I can get a video if need be. Thanks for reading :)

One possibility - leaky fuel injectors. They could leak all the pressurized gas in the fuel rail into the manifold after shutoff and cause a rich condition when you tried to restart. The extra gas would evaporate overnite which is why it would start OK in the morning.

That seems like a possibility. More ideas welcomed

It might be your fuel pump going bad. When the pump gets warm, it might be having trouble starting. You can test the pump by put a jumper where the relay is to test the fuel pump. I think you jump 30 and 87 on the fuel pump relay (the middle one in the group of 3 relays above the fuse box). If you look around, there are threads talking about that. If you hear the pump going, then your pump should be fine, if not, then it's pooped.

I would carry around a jumper and whenever your car has issues starting, put the jumper in and see if the pump is the reason.
