Not firing on all 6 cylinders

    Hey, I need some help...
A couple months ago, my car misfired really badly for two weeks and it ended up being the CPS was worn through by the water pump pulley so we fixed that, but since then, it has been very underpowered.

I changed the spark plugs to no avail, and thinking the cat could be clogged, seeing that the car has ~380k on it. I got a new exhaust and that didn't help, but it made me notice the car wasn't running on all six cylinders. Also, all ignition components have less than 5k on them except the coil.

I had run out of gas a few times due to a consistently blowing Fuse 10 so I thought a lot of crud from the bottom of the tank could be clogging the fuel system and I ran a full tank with a bottle of Lucas Fuel Injector cleaner and that didn't help either.

I've been getting about 12 mpg over the last 200 miles and the car has no power at all. I did a compression test and all the numbers were between 160 and 180. I noticed plugs 2 and 3 were pretty black so I might try changing them again but so far, I'm at a loss. I was thinking of picking up a different set of plug wires and injectors to see if that helps but haven't had the chance yet.

    Any other ideas?

    Cliffs:
    Not running on all 6
    Good compression
Recently changed plugs but two are black after 200 miles
    Fuel Injector cleaner doesn't help
    12mpg average
    Possible injector or plug wires?

    Thanks in advance...

I experienced the same for awhile and had all fuel delivery components looked at from pump, relay to injectors. I also looked at the ignition side.

Run diagnostics and see what you'll get. For me, the o2 sensor came up. PO run a Denso o2 sensor on it for some stupid reason. When I replaced that, it breathed smoothly, idled smoothly, and was back to normal operation.

If fouling plugs only a couple plugs you might have bad injectors on those cyls. If overall running rich conditions I would also check the fuel pressure, and check there is no fuel in the vacuum hose going to the FPR.

        Keith, you are a lifesaver.

After trying a few things I assumed it was the injectors and figured out that it was cylinders 2 and 3 that weren't firing. I took a trip to the junkyard to look for some M50 injectors but couldn't find any and got some M30 injectors from an E32 as a last resort. I believe they are 17# and single pintle so not a huge upgrade... but after I installed them, the car wouldn't start for some reason, so my friend suggested I plug in the Megasquirt I got from you (still haven't done anything with it... :( ) and it fired up first try and runs wonderfully!

It's a bit rich and backfires/shoots flames every time I let off the gas but all 6 cylinders works so all is fine with me! Now it's just time to tune it a little and rebuild my stock injectors. They were all sorts of clogged up.

Will do! I just need to install Tuner Studio and I will see what I can figure out. Could the stock ECU be bad? I didn't think the injectors were too much bigger so I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start...
