all of that stuff is already discussed in the M20 section and as alluded to not quite as easy using the "US" sourced parts89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

M20 2.7i 2.8 stroker guide!! (Updated)
Of course it's been discussed. But here's a solid piece of good reading. Leaves some good food for thought and right from a reliable source.
Not all the U.S and and European parts are different though. I would be interested though just not sure on some of them.
For instance does anyone know if the euro e rods and late model short skirt i pistons are the same as us spec?
To put it to the test I've decided to follow the 2.8 build to the t and see what results I get. Just got the motor inside today, tear down starts tonight I'll keep you guys posted.

The reason I ask is I pulled a bottom end from a 1985 325e for a budget 2.7i build and figure this should be a 10.2:1 variant?

For reference, here's the M20 piston variants. Note you can at least narrow it down with a quick look at the dome. (link credit to Keith/whodwho)
And as far as convincing Mahle to make more cast high-comp euro pistons, don't bother. I spent about 2 months trying to make it happen with no luck.
