dme signal from ignition to dme relay?

Can't get the dme relay to kick.

Ecu good
Fuel pump runs when jumped
Will just crank

What excites the dme relay? I can get it to click if I ground pin 36 from the ecu.. wtf? Stumped.

Pinned out all the power and grounds from the ecu connection,all good.

What car do you have. Early cars (through 8/87) route the START signal to the DME via C104, but on later cars it goes through C101.

11/87 I will test there. And the start signal,pin 26 that also runs through the obc,I see.
