    Valves bent and parts broken..:(

Ok so I got a 1988 bmw 325i convertable I took it to the mechanic after the car turns off on me and did not want to turn back on there was a slight bit off oil on the spark plugs but no compression checked out on the second piston. So now here's my options buy a new gasket kit and get the work done. But then the told me there was bent valves. Soooo not a good thing to hear I know I was thinking should I go and get new valves and camshaft or get a new head all together. I would like the help since it was my girl fiends first car and my gift to her for her anniversary thanks

Can you work on it yourself? You'll save a shit load of money...

I would just have the head rebuilt if you know of a good machine shop.

The two reasons for bent valves are a timing belt failure or a "money shift". Either are entirely preventable (shame on you). If the pistons aren't badly damaged, which you won't know until the head is off, repairing the head and having it surfaced will be the most economical path.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Haha turned out to be the timing belt. I got a new gasket set with head studs and new belt coming in... The pistons look ok. But I'm going to buy a new set off intake valves and exhaust valves. Also one off the rocker arms broke so I a get a new set off then plus a new water pump.. Also going to send the head to get ported and polished see how it goes. Thanks

So rough but 100% accurate, although I'd like to mention my timing belt snapping was not due to neglect.

Get the head redone at a reputable shop, you can do the job yourself, its just a bunch of "little jobs". Prefer not to use VR head gaskets, get new head bolts, tensioner, and a new timing belt. Might as well change the water pump while your in there.
