    Erratic temp guage

    Hi everyone!

My temp gauge is acting crazy. Normally stays at a slight tick above the center. It has started jumping up to the red and then down to about 3/4th. Then back to center. The laser temp gauge says about 67 to 74 degrees at various spots on the radiator hoses. I have wiggled the sensor wires and there is no change in the temp gauge.

Do you think the gauge itself is bad or the sender?

    Thanks for the help!

check the grounding nut on the back of the cluster. the fuel gauge has one too. if the nut doesn't ground the gauge the needle will bounce all over the place. You can usually reach up behind the dash and wiggle it when it starts doing it, but the real fix is to remove the cluster and tighten the nut. It's a simple fix, but you might have to remove your steering wheel (22mm) to get access to it. I don't know for sure.

Yeah, I agree w/ Jaxx about it most likely being a loose ground on the back of the cluster. You don't need to remove the steering wheel to take the cluster out, but it might make it easier. Have a look around on r3v - there are lots of great write-ups on fixing the gauges. Good luck!

Did the ground nut fix the issue? Nice to post resolutions so when people search the forum they can see what worked.
