m20b27 cranks but won't start, but will push start

Okay so i bought an 86' eta with an m20b27 about a month ago. Just recently i noticed a small tear in the intake boot which explained why it idled badly, so i threw some tape on their until the new boot arrived and drove the rest of the day. But i tried starting it up today and it just cranks. Tried popping the clutch and it sputtered but wouldn't start up. Tried again going about 25 and it started, until i made it to the bottom of my driveway when I slowed and stepped on the clutch, it stalled. Popped the clutch again to make it bake up the driveway and when i slowed down to about 1k rpm it stalled.
So I opened the hood and the intake boot had completely ripped in half and was barely held together by the tape. My guess was that it just had a HUGE vacuum leak and wouldn't start due to air/fuel ratio being off but it settled out at a high rpm. Well i got the new boot, installed it, and it won't start. I'm getting fuel but no spark.....but i can pop the clutch going 25 and it starts.......I am completely lost. Coil is fine, cap and rotor had a little pitting but i scraped most of it off, still nothing. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Did you unplug the battery after you swapped to the good boot,? If not, you should try that first.

Check with a test light on the coil 12v side that it has power with ign on and while cranking
