    Engine idles high in neutral

Hello everyone, I have a 76 BMW 2002, with a m20 swap from a 91 e30, just about a week ago my car started Idling right bellow the 3k mark, my first thought was the icv, so I cleaned it out with carb cleaner, that did nothing, I checked for vac leaks, nothing there, so I purchased a new icv, and still no luck, I'm a little stumped now, any suggestions, many thanks.

Is the throttle plate closing all the way? Maybe a sticky throttle cable?

Throttle plate is good, cable moves with no play as well nice and firm.

If I do move the unit that controls the throttle out towards the front of
The car, the idles goes down, as soon as I let go of it, it's back up.

Sounds like the cable is adjusted too tightly and is holding the throttle plate open.

But the car has been driving fine until this past week, so I don't think it's the cable.
