Engine vibration around 1500-2500 rpm any ideas??

Had this 325i automatic for a few months and it developed some shifting issues, will not upshift/change gears appropriately until after 10 minutes of driving or so - since I plan on doing a 5 speed swap I haven't delved to deep into the trans issue. I did adjust the throttle cable and trans cable and that seemed to slightly improve things. The downside to my laziness with the shifting problem is that I end up revving the motor excessively to try and get it to change gears. Besides worrying about my timing belt, Im now (literally overnight) having a loss of power off idle, specifically around 1500-2500rpm whether I'm in gear or not and strong vibration in that rpm range. Valves sound noisy so I'm gonna do a valve adjustment see if theyre enough out of whack for it to be misfiring.
