Ticking valvetrain or new M50 injectors? [video]

    Hey all,

So first off, I apologize about starting another thread about a ticking M20. I installed freshly-rebuilt M50 injectors last January and just started driving my car again due to an accident a week or so after their installation. I've noticed a pretty loud ticking since the swap, especially at idle. I was convinced the sound was my valve adjustment, but two adjustments later (.010" cold) the sound is the same. My next thought was maybe a loud injector since is seemed loudest near the injector 4 or 5 area. I took a video of the motor at idle and it really only confused me more. I think the sound is coming more from the injector area but maybe there's something else under the valve cover I should check? All I've really done is adjust the valves. None of the eccentrics looked excessively worn or backwards. Thanks for watching and any thoughts!

Tl;dr My M20 is ticking and I dunno if it could be M50 injectors or valvetrain stuff. Please watch video and chime in!

Alrighty, so I used a mechanic's stethoscope and it seems pretty conclusive that the injectors are the source of 97% of the noise. The valve cover had no ticks anywhere I touched it. Next question: Do M50 injectors just make a lot more noise than the stock ones?

Mine are just as noisy as the m20 injectors they replaced, which was a frustrating discovery.

Totally off topic. Going to be at WGI Vintage Grand Prix in a few weeks?

Weird, they seem significantly louder than my original ones. Maybe those just sucked, haha. To answer your question, we will be there. Not sure which cars yet, but at least 3 I believe. I won't be racing there though :(
