Runs weak, loses power at WOT

    Hello R3v,

Got my car running the other day which I was really stoked about.
After a couple test rides I noticed the car was running a little funky.

Note: Car has new plugs, new cap and rotor, new fuel filter, new tre fuel pump
    late model m20

Anyways, the car runs perfectly fine when I first start. Idles perfect, no issues. but I noticed when the car heats up. It'll start running weak. If I floor it it'll lose power and hesitate. Sounds like shit. It won't act as bad if I baby the gas pedal but If I smash on it it'll be weak, lose power and eventually feel like it'll want to die out. The car has died on me twice and wouldn't start but after letting it sit for about 5-10 it'll start up and drive like nothing ever happened. After a couple hard driving, WOTs it'll act up again. Also, I have a CEL light on after I let it sit for about 30 seconds but as soon as I blip the throttle it'll go away? I noticed also when it starts acting up my CEL light will come on and off. Car is throwing me a 1222 code.

Any info would help alot. Need to get her running solid ASAP.
    Thank you,

Sounds like a fuel flow issue to me. The fact that it works a little better with less throttle sounds like a lean condition as well. You might wanna start by checking fuel pressure at the rail. How old are the injectors?

      1222 code:

Incorrect Fuel Pressure, Injector valve defective or coked, Engine Temperature Sensor defective, Secondary air leak, Fuel evaporation control system defective, Air Flow Meter defective and/or the combustion is being disturbed by mechanical failure (Spark plugs,, compression, intake/exhaust valves, ...etc.)

Sounds like fueling issue (Possibly injectors or FPR, but check the in tank pickup and external fuel filters first), or an AFM that sticks as the engine heats up.

Swapped a working AFM yesterday with a working one yesterday so I ruled that out. Injectors? Wouldn't it run poorly ever since start up and not just later down the road?

If the injectors are clogged, they can potentially provide enough fuel to run at low demand (i.e. idle) but not at high demand. I think low fuel pressure is more likely though.

Check your gas tank for rust. Had the same problem on my e30 then changed the gas tank and all was well after that.
