327i wiring. how to verify if i have the right harness?

i have an 87 325e will build date 11/86 and plan to swap to motronic 1.3. i picked up an 87 325i wiring harness that I'm assuming should be plug and play into my chassis. How can i verify the harness is in fact from and earlier model m20? Also will any 173 ecu work?

earlier m20 harness doesn't have a quick release on the injector harness.only thing i can think off thats different and also the newer harness from 88 and up have a little plug that is for accessories. any 173 dme will work.

Simplest way is to check the DME connector. 3 rows of pins is a Motronic 1.1/1.3 harness from an i or super eta, 2 rows is a Motronic 1.0 harness from an eta.
