Got it all together, needed a head. When i try to turn it over cant even here engine trying to want to start. Took the linkage cover plastic cover off (auto) and the 2 wires that go to that connector are cut. I figured the car wouldn't start because it wasn't sure if it was in park or not? But wouldn't i still here it trying? lol

Not the starter wires, the wires when it says like park drive and all that, the shifter cover there, if you lift that theres like a little white plug from body harness and the wires from the actual linkage you do with your hand to the harness is cut. start just keeps spinning. i cant even here compression.88' E30 325 24v Turbo Coupe

If you have pics, then that would help.
I'm making an assumption here...
I suppose that you have an automatic? Those wires are probably from the Neutral Safety Switch. But IIRC, if those aren't connected, it wouldn't even crank because it is probably telling the ECU that the car is in gear, and not in N or P.

Are you saying the starter is spinning but the engine is not turning over? That's how I read it. If that were to happen to me in any car, my first thought would be to check the starter solenoid. Sadly that could mean removing the starter. But the solenoid is what fires the gear on the starter into making contact with the flywheel and turns the motor over.
I am new to the car and BMW's in general so I don't know if it's a little different, or what the auto trans affects, but starters are all quite similar.1989 325i 5spd Coupe - Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 15x7 - Nitto NT05 - Z3 2.5 Shifter - Sparco Ring Steering Wheel - Lowered on Tokikos - Drilled and Slotted Rotors - E46 Dinan Exaust - Apex Race Parts stud conversion - 3.73 LSD
