86 325es Highway misfire

I've been having a strange problem with with my e30...
This has happened at least three times so far. When I'm driving on the highway the car will go into some sort of limp mode; it will start to buc and misfire also it wont let me rev past 2.5k rpms and wont allow me to go past 60mph. This would continue for maybe 4-6 minutes then the car would begin to drive normally.
What could cause this?
I have looked online for answers but no one has the same symptoms.
