Tips to get brake booster hose off?

I want to do a Seafoam treatment through the vacuum line. I tried to take he brake booster hose off, but after half an hour and bloody knuckles I feel like maybe I'm not doing something right. I've been trying to take it off from the top (vacuum side, by the y-splitter thing) as opposed to the brake booster side as I can actually fit my hand on the top. I did get the hose clamp off and tried to 'persuade' the hose to come off by pushing it with a screwdriver, but still nothing. I didn't want to recklessly pull on the brake booster side and risk the plastic connector snapping on the booster.
Is there something simple that I'm missing here?

it is simple, the hose is 20-30 years old and hard as a rock. There are a few tips:
    Choose another hose.
Try to get the hose freely rotating while it is still on y-splitter thing before trying to pull it off.
Try using smaller, sharper screwdrivers for prying.
Use an exacto knife and make a small incision in the stuck end of the hose. Just shorten the hose upon re-installation.

You can also use a heat gun or hair drier and get that hose hot. It will slide right off with a little twist. Don't melt it but get it hot to the touch.

Ended up wrestling with it more tonight and finally got it off with smaller screwdrivers. Thanks for the tips!
The Seafoam does make a noticeable difference, definitely seems to run smoother.
