Confused about e to I swap

Been reading a lot of different techs mainly strictly eta. I have all the parts for the swap 325i head ecu crank harness ect. But I have a 86 528e and I know they have the same m20 motor as the 325/e. I bought an 88 seta harness to ease the install but the 325i harness has pulse sensors and fuel injector has an extra clip to it. Is it possible to use the 88 harness and my eta fuel rail instead and cooling system?

The 88 E28 528e harness would be a direct fit for your car since the Super Eta engine used Motronic 1.1.

Can you explain in more detail the differences you're seeing?

Since the seta is a direct plug and play from what i have read, would i use eta fuel rail since the 325i is different. The spark plug wire also has an pulse sensor which from the 325i that my eta doesnt have but would the seta need it? The wiring seems straight forward. I also read that i would need an 87 cooling system is this true?

There is no difference in the fuel rail itself. You can use either one.

You will need Super Eta or M20B25 spark plug wires with the impulse sensor.

You can keep your current cooling system.

Thanks. Wasn't too sure on some stuff. Hopefully the swap is fast and easy.
