Main Relay wires Melting

    Main Relay wires Melting

    Hello R3v looking for some help finishing my e to i swap. I have a problem with wires melting under the main relay. my car is a 87 325e I swap over a 91 325ix harness head and edu (173) all wires plugged in but when i turn on the ignition wires get hot and i see smoke.

      Pin #20 on the C101 connector has to be clipped, otherwise un-fused +12v gets connected to a ground.

          check under the dash. last time i made the same mistake. melted the harness and into the body harness. it melted stuff under the dash. check that.

            I sold the motor and I gave the shell to my little cousin. I will pass the information on.

              Sure you had the correct relay in there?
              1997 Artic Silver M3
              CES GT4094r 651hp/615tq @ 24 psi

                  Needs to be the correct "main relay" one....not just any relay will do and will definitely melt the wiring.....should be a white one

                    The white relay I got with harness is the relay that would melt the wires. I used another relay from another car it also melt the wires for the main relay
