    M20 Oil Pump Driveshaft BROKEN

Completely shattered my oil pan on Christmas Eve. Started installing my new oil pan today to find that my Oil Pump driveshaft had broken off in the gear inside the block. I know I can remove the cap above the Oil Pump in order to prime the pump. Can I remove the gear as well to remove the broken piece of driveshaft or should I just attempt to drill out the piece from underneath the car. Thanks for the help.

gear comes out the top once cap is off ,broken piece might come out with a very strong magnet ,but if its that jambed in there it might have broken the gear !

i would be worried about reusing that oil pump if it took that hard of a hit to break the driveshaft , might question reusing that gear also ,carefully inspect the teeth on both the drivegear and the jackshaft that drives it they are only cast an break easily
